This year I decided that I will reach and maintain my goal weight of 155 lbs. I won't say how much I weigh right now but it's not 155 ...*smile* On Jan.2, I decided to join the Hoopnotica's( a well known hula hoop fitness company) 30 day hula hoop for 30 minute challenge on facebook.
Hula hooping at 38 years old?...yes ma'am, yes sir, I am and I love it. I love it! I love how quickly it tones my abs and my legs. I see a sexy six pack in my future, and a hot new bikini this summer ( flexing my manifestation muscles).
I even asked my followers on my facebook page www.facebook.com/asoulfultouch, to join me in the process. So far the response has been pretty good. I can't wait to hear and maybe see the results that they will achieve. Hoopnotica has really taken a childhood past time to the next level. One of my 100 goals for 2013 is to become a Hoopnotica Instructor. This would be a great way for me to assist my clients with their health and wellness as well as keep myself in shape.
On the Hoopnotica site I read that one hour of hooping can burn from 400-600 calories, wow! I can see that me and my hula hoop are going to be the best of friends this year.I have the travel Hoopnotica hoop and it breaks down into 6 pieces and has it's own travel strap.... I bought my travel hoop from a Groupon early in 2012 and ever since I put that hoop together I have been using off and on.
I love dancing and hooping to soca and reggae music. I feel that it accentuates the movements of the hoop and the beats help me to get a great cardio routine. I know that once I become an instructor that my classes will be filled with lots of african and caribbean rhythms. I haven't weighed myself or took any before shots before participating in this challenge but I'm sure that I will get some great benefit from this workout. If you want to take part of this challenge, just grab a hoop and join us on our facebook wall.
The weighted hoops are pretty inexpensive and a lot of retail sporting goods stores have them in stock. Hoopnotica has a variety of sizes and colors of hoops, but my favorite are their LED lighted hula hoops. I can't wait to purchase one of those. Below is a pic of me hooping in my front yard in SC this past summer ( 2012). My neighbors used to shake their heads and laugh at me and I can't count how many time passers-by would blow their horns or laugh. But I hooped on oblivious to what they were saying or thinking ( besides what they think of me is none of my business)! I will be sure to post a couple of updates of my progress in this challenge.
